 Dear Yoda,

Thank you so much for signing up! I'm so excited to be participating in this fic exchange again-- I had a LOT of fun last year and got fantastic fic. Star Wars is probably my original fandom love (I was really into the EU all through high school and I adore worldbuilding and trivia!) and getting back into it with the sequel trilogy has been so much fun.

I hope that this letter is helpful and contains information that sparks your interest. :) Feel free to stay in the general likes/dislikes section if that's more your style, or proceed to my rambling/fandom flailing/prompts. I am super into all of my requests and I am sure I will love anything you write!

General Likes/Dislikes

DNWs: Child sexual abuse, incest, goreshock, kidfic/curtainfic, menstrual/period discussion,  stillbirth/miscarriage, unrequested ships.

Fic Likes: Banter, bittersweet endings, casefic, cigarette smoking (if character is a canon smoker), competence kink, complicated family dynamics, corruption, dubious morality/choices, enemies-to-friends-to-lovers (or anywhere in between), forgiveness/absolution, found families, horror*, hurt/comfort, loyalty kink/absolute loyalty, magical realism, moral ambiguity, religious ritual, slice of life, UST, winning in the worst possible way, worldbuilding.

(*Horror: psychological, body, erotic, or paranormal/zombie/scifi; not: slasher, goreshock, torture, or “Saw”-like scenarios).

'Ship Likes: Angst, banter instead of sex, denial of feelings, first time/relationship firsts, forced proximity, jealousy, mutual/one-sided pining, possessiveness, sexual tension, trust dynamics (such as established trust issues, gaining/losing someone's trust, trusting-someone-despite-everything, etc.)

Kink Likes: Biting, breathplay, dubcon*, dirty talk, light bondage, masturbation, oral sex, orgasm denial, persuasion/reluctance, possessiveness, power dynamics, semi-public sex, sex pollen/whatever the canon equivalent of sex-pollen would be, uniform/suit kink, vampire bloodplay, voice fetishization.

(*A note on dubcon/noncon: I'm okay with a dubcon scenario leaning heavily toward noncon in a "my mind says no but my body says yes" kind of situation.)

AUs/Fusions: I love a good AU. You know what makes any story great? SETTING IT IN SPACE. I adore space opera AUs, apocalypse (esp zombies!), vampires, Rule 63*, detective/spy noir, state mandated ghost hunting. Fusion-wise, I'm a huge fan of Star Wars, Inception, Pacific Rim, & Firefly/Serenity.

I'm also into mundane AUs for this challenge! Political AUs, ice skating, modern/alternate job AUs, etc. are my faves. I'm not the biggest fan of high school/college AUs normally, but if you have a great idea, I'm sure I'll love it.

(*Rule 63: If shippy fic, I'd prefer both halves of the pairing be swapped please!)

Ratings: I'm happy with G-E. I really don't mind violence, swearing, or anything like that. Gen is great. Smut is great. On the violence/gore scale, from Care Bears to the Saw films... my limit is usually right around Quentin Tarantino.

If you're unsure about something in particular, a good indicator for me is usually 'canon typical.'

Requested Ships:

The Force & None
Luke Skywalker & The Force
The Force & Rey
Ben Solo | Kylo Ren & The Force

So this is more of a nebulous prompt, but I'm really, really interested in how the Force works as an omniscient entity/capricious nebulous god/entropy/outdated philosophy/eldritch horror. I'm ESPECIALLY into how it can be all of those things, or different facets for different people. How Luke sees the Force is going to be so different than how Kylo does, or how it likes to play with Rey.

I chose "The Force & None" because I'm interested in its interactions/alien POV with anyone/any event of the OT/ST. Tell me how it oversees the Skywalkers, how it toys with their lives, empowers and loves and uses them. I love how the male Skywalkers have some weird fucking relationship with the Force (not that Leia's or Shmi's relationships are normal by comparison!) and now there's Rey. I'm also interested in the interaction of NON-Force users (like, maybe Han's Force-blind in everything except some latent persuasion abilities, or just really, really good at cards) with this "hokey religion". Maybe Chewie/wookies see things differently! (Basically, all the religion/philosophy meta you can give me would be A+++++.)

Rey and Kylo are two halves of the same coin/and the way they both channel the Force reflects that. As much as I adore the Skywalker saga, I'm also super curious to see us moving away from it in the form of Rey and all the potential she promises. I'd love to see more of that, especially in comparison to Shmi-- the other random desert woman the Force selected, a long time ago.

My absolute favorite Luke moment was probably him talking about the Force with Rey, and his assessment that it was the height of vanity to believe that if the Jedi Order was stamped out, the Light was stamped out. Like, this is a perfect conclusion for Luke as the last of the (Old) Jedi Order, give me more of this rationale/his realization/his relationship to the Force and the island and everything. I love Luke as a veteran of the Rebellion, so changed by everything he's experienced and his power. Also, what's it like for him to be cut off from the Force??

Teneniel Djo & Luke Skywalker & Han Solo/Leia Organa

Okay. So there's this book in the Expanded Universe (now Legends) where Luke Skywalker, Jedi Master, is kidnapped after he crash-lands on some random savage planet called Dathomir. This planet is mainly settled by 1) Imperial remnant and 2) rancor-riding Force Witches.

Yep, one of the Force witches totally captures him (and Han, and Leia, and...yeah, The Courtship of Princess Leia is amazing.) Anyway, she kidnaps him because the Dathomirian witches are a matriarchal society where, like I said, the Force-sensitive "witches" have domesticated rancors (RANCORS) while the men are the domestic slaves/husbands/idk. It's complete crack.

Anyway, I'm desperate for more of this nonsense. Han is also captured and put to work while Leia tries to straighten out the political dealings/making an alliance with the Force witches for the time being so they can get OFF this planet. Luke's thought to be "rare" since he's "a male witch" (a Jedi) and the subject of much envy, and you can imagine how Han takes all of this, and it's just amazing.

Anyway.
  • Give me more worldbuilding! I really thought Dathomirian society was cracky and fun. Give me fish-out-of-water adjusting for poor Luke and Han.
  • Leia being diplomatic and dealing with this and the miscommunication that inevitably ensues when she tells the Dathomirians about her past with Han & Luke (oh, btw, Han's kidnapped Leia to take her to this planet, which is why they crash-landed, which is ANOTHER STORY. Seriously, go read this book.)
  • Luke actually considering staying on Dathomir with Teneniel (who "owns" him, technically) and Han's reaction to that. (If you want to make this shippy between Teneniel/Luke, I have no objections.)
  • Discussion of the different Force philosophies between the Dathomir witches and the Jedi.

Ben Solo | Kylo Ren & Han Solo

Okay so, Han Solo has always been my absolute fave since the OT, and to say that I was ALSO TORN APART by his ending in TFA would not be overstating it. But I'm slowly coming to terms with it and I really, really dug all the Han mentions in TLJ. (ESPECIALLY Snoke's "You have too much of your father's heart in you, young Solo." and Luke's "I'll always be with you, just like your father.")

I would adore anything you could give me from their dynamic. Anything.

Prompts:
  • Han teaching young Ben to fly the Falcon
  • Kylo being unable to cope/expanding on how his spirit was "split to the bone" by Han's murder
  • Han's reaction to Ben being sent away for training ("Han was...well, Han about it." TELL ME EVERYTHING.)
  • Ben's attributes that are uniquely Han's and how they slip out (either pre-canon or even now, post-TLJ)
  • Kylo Ren is probably very, very good at sabacc. He never plays. Discuss.

Leia Organa & Ben Solo | Kylo Ren

I need emotional catharsis between these two like I need air.

They're so alike, and it's kind of devastating-- I think that Ben AND Leia would've had such an easier time if he'd been like his father. Like Han, Leia's so in over her head with this kid it isn't even funny.

Prompts:
  • Early moments, Leia teaching young Ben traditions/customs/politics/non-Force related things.
  • Ben deals with the Legend of his mother and her place in the New Republic
  • The confrontation between Leia/Ben when he finds out her father was Darth Vader
  • How Ben sees his mother in the Force now, or more on the fallout after the Raddus bridge attack. Are those TIE pilots okay...? OR, canon divergence where he manages to hold that missile back with the Force (because that thought is so badass that I want it now!)
  • Pure angst: Leia passes away and Ben has to deal with the idea that they never reconciled yes I love pain why do you ask

Rey & Ben Solo | Kylo Ren, Kylo Ren/Rey

Well, hello, my ridiculous tropey OTP. I adored these two in TFA and so of course TLJ was really, really good to me, bless. I would be super interested in platonic fic that explores their dynamic, as well as smutty/shippy fic. One-sided pining or mutual pining is also super MY JAM. Whatever is on your radar, dear author.

Prompts:
  • I adore any kind of role divergence AU for this pairing-- Light Side Ben Solo, Senator Ben Solo, Smuggler Ben Solo, Dark Rey, Smuggler Rey, Witches of Dathomir  Rey (okay, this last one is my pipe dream prompt, but know I would adore you for it.)
  • Mundane Force Bond moments-- fixing the Falcon, where Ben probably already knows what's wrong with the ship but REALLY doesn't want to be a part of it, dueling/meditation practice where they keep getting distracted by each other, Rey exploring Ahch-To.
  • Rey finds herself being overtaken by the dark side, Kylo/Ben has to bring her back.
  • Ben and Rey fly the Falcon together (Force Bond or in the future assuming a redemption arc)
  • Kylo Ren dies saving Rey or something/someone Rey cares about. Rey has a lot of complicated feelings about this. ALL THE ANGST AND TEARS.
  • I mean any "Kylo Ren dies and Rey feels some kind of way about it" snippet is really, really up my alley tbh.
  • Reluctant hurt/comfort where one of them is injured and the other is trying to help but SO bad at it.
  • Run with the quote expressed in this gifset/this articleI'm so into this you have no idea.

Kylo Ren & Rose Tico
Kylo Ren / Rose Tico

So you can blame fandom for this, because I think this is just the cutest and I'm into it. Rose was really lovely, just a pure force of goodness in the world, and I think her idealism/awesomeness would be really interesting crossed with Kylo's....not that. I love clashing world views!

Prompts:

  • Kylo Ren has defected and no one else will really speak with him. Rose isn't so sure about that either, but her niceness gets in the way of her resolve.
  • Kylo Ren basically being completely baffled by who Rose is/what's going on with her is especially great. Socially awkward Kylo Ren is my jam.
  • Kylo Ren prepares himself for the final confrontation with Rey, ominious music/smoke rolling into the battlefield, and instead the person that steps off the shuttle is...Rose. With her little taser and pure force of personality.
  • Kylo and Rose compare notes on how to get their crush (Rey & Finn, respectively) to notice them. They give each other terrible advice and then they fall in love for real??? (that part is obv optional if you're going for & vs / . I'm happy with FinnRose, Reylo, or Kylo/Rose endgame.)
  • To steal a quote from my other favorite fandom: "Who we are and who we need to be to survive are very different things.” DISCUSS. (I can definitely seeing Rose disagreeing with that.)

Cassian Andor/Mon Mothma

Okay, I'm just gonna admit that I really deeply love "Female Leader and Male Subordinate she keeps sending off to die" and leave it at that. Canon divergence "Everyone Lives" AU from Rogue One is great, and so is pre-Rogue One (tbh I really love tragic endings, and knowing Cassian eventually dies adds a beautiful topnote to all of his interactions to me, but I wouldn't be averse to a last-minute escape!)

Prompts:
  • Leading the Rebellion is a lonely job. Respect your men, but don't get attached to their faces. Except when you do.
  • A time in the early Rebellion when things seem lost, and Mon holds the cause together through sheer grit and will. Cassian is impressed despite himself.
  • Mon Mothma has to send Cassian on a suicide run, and maybe can't handle it for whatever reason. Cassian convinces her to go through with it even though he knows what it means (Force, give me these martyrs and believers in the Cause and I just jjlfdlkaflkj)
  • Pure hurt/comfort again, when neither of them know what to do/say.
  • Post Rogue One where Mon is maybe one of the few people who remember Cassian Andor and his impact, and her own secret mission to honor his/Rogue One's memory.

Padmé Amidala/Poe Dameron

Hello crack ship! We can blame fandom for this one too. And my need for Padme to get some well-deserved loving/hero worship.

I would prefer this be post-ROTS, so probably AU where Padme hasn't "died of a broken heart" (lame) and instead has recovered/taken her babies into hiding. Pair that with some time-travel shenanigans, and you have one misplaced cocky pilot of the Resistance who keeps complaining about the outdated ship tech...I'd be into it.

Alternatively, Padme sent to the ST-era due to time travel ___ and picking up the fight once more (can you imagine her expression the moment she realizes the Senate's been dissolved like, twice over already??)

Really, I just need Padme getting to live and flirt with a sassy hotshot pilot that doesn't have serious anger issues and I'm happy.

Background Ships (So one of my DNWs is unrequested ships, but I'm totally fine with the following if you want to throw it in the background of whatever you're writing): any canon ships such as Han/Leia or Anakin/Padme, Poe/Finn, Finn/Rose, Poe/Paige, Poe/Rose, Jyn Erso/Cassian Andor.

I hope all of that was helpful! Again, thank you so much for signing up this year! I'm sure I'll love whatever you write. You can feel free to check out my Ao3 account (Apricot). My tumblr is here and my general SW tag is here.
